Marine Compounds & Polishes

Marine compounds and gelcoat polishes for correcting oxidized gelcoat and painted hulls: heavy cut, refine and finish before sealant or ceramic, on DA or rotary. The aisle carries full cut ladders from Starke, Koch Chemie Marine, RUPES Marine, Menzerna, Malco, 3D Marine & RV and Marine Nano Shop. That lets detailers, fiberglass repair techs and yard correction bays match cut rate to the sanding scratch or oxidation in front of them.

Marine Compounds & Gelcoat Polish for Oxidized Boats

Marine compound polish and gelcoat polish for professional detailers correcting oxidized gelcoat and painted hulls—cut, refine, and finish before protection. Built for DA and rotary workflows, not consumer paste kits.

1) Professional detailing

  • Heavy cut on chalky, UV-baked gelcoat
  • Gelcoat scratch remover steps for haze, swirls, and light scratches
  • Marine paint correction: compound → polish before sealant or ceramic

2) Fiberglass repair finish

After fairing and finish-sand, fiberglass compound and finishing polish blend the patch into surrounding gelcoat so the repair doesn’t flash under the sun.

3) Yard repair / correction tickets

Same products support yard correction bays—fleet topsides, broker turnarounds, and haul-out polish when the ticket calls for machine finish.

Serious DIY can shop the aisle; depth is for the trade. Ships nationwide · Free UPS Ground over $200, $7 flat rate under $200, same-day shipping on orders placed before 2pm ET Mon–Fri · Or pick up at MDSC Fort Myers (Jetport).

Frequently asked questions

Which compound removes P800–P1000 sanding scratches on gelcoat?

RUPES Marine XC-100 is built for P800/P1000 marks on production and heavily oxidized gelcoat. Starke Blaze buffs out scratches as low as P800, Level R removes P600–P800, Malco Super Cut handles P800 and finer, and Malco Gel Coat Compound P1000 and finer. For P400, start with Starke Quik Sand.

What do I use after the heavy-cut step?

Step down to a refining compound: RUPES Marine XC-300 removes P1200/P1500 or finer marks, Starke Elevate removes 1200–1500 grit scratches, and Koch Chemie Gelcoat Fine Cut handles medium-weathered gelcoat. Finish with RUPES Marine XF-500, Koch Chemie Gelcoat Finish, Menzerna Super Finish 3500 or Starke Finish R.

Is there a one-step compound for lighter defects?

Yes. Koch Chemie Gelcoat One Cut removes haze, holograms and scratches with a sealing effect on all gelcoat colors (DA, hard Micro Cut pad). Menzerna 3in1 removes about 3000-grit marks, swirls and haze while sealing. 3D Marine & RV All-In-One cuts and finishes from one bottle.

Which polish should I use before a ceramic coating?

Use a polish built to prime for coating: Starke Triple P adds SiO2 components for better sealant or coating adhesion, and Marine Nano Shop Fusion SiO2 Primer Polish clears light haze while building an SiO2 resin layer that acts as a primer before ceramic.
