Frequently asked questions

Ceramic coating or polymer sealant?

Starke rates Repel Pro ceramic at true 9H hardness with a multi-year guarantee on paint; on porous gelcoat it still lasts 2–3x most polymer sealants. Polymer options like Starke Hyper Hold Pro and Revolution are rated for about 3–6 months and are faster to apply.

Why polymer instead of carnauba wax on a boat?

Starke notes carnauba begins failing at surface temperatures as low as 105°F, which a boat in strong sun can reach by mid-morning. Its Revolution cleaner wax uses polymer sealant chemistry for 3–6 months of marine protection from one application.

How should I prep gelcoat before a coating?

Coatings preserve a finished surface; they don't replace compound or abrasives, so correct first. Then remove polish oils with a panel wipe such as Gtechniq Marine Panel Wipe, an alcohol- and solvent-based spray that helps coatings and sealants bond cleanly.

Is this bottom paint or hull paint?

No. The products in this collection are protective coatings and sealants applied over finished gelcoat or paint. They are not bottom paint or hull paint.
