At Marine Detail Supply Company, we’re proud to support professionals who are pushing the standard forward across multiple industries. This month, we’re featuring Zack Graybill, owner of Certified Shine Detailing—a business built on quality, consistency, and real results across automotive, marine, aviation, and RV detailing.

Built on Experience, Driven by Results

Certified Shine Detailing is dedicated to restoring, protecting, and enhancing surfaces across a wide range of applications. From paint correction and oxidation removal to ceramic coatings and long-term surface protection, Zack and his team focus on delivering high-end results without inflated pricing.

Whether it’s reviving a weathered boat, maintaining a showroom finish, or protecting a vehicle for the long term, the mission is simple:
deliver exceptional gloss, long-lasting protection, and service customers can rely on.

From Pennsylvania to Florida’s Marine Industry

Zack’s journey into marine detailing started with a strong foundation in other industries.

“I got started after moving to Florida. As a Pennsylvania native, I was doing paint correction on vehicles, oxidation removal on RVs, and some aviation detailing. After moving, I turned to boats—and we’ve grown fast.”

That growth has been immediate and measurable:

“From December 2025 to April 2026, we successfully buffed, polished, and protected 58 boats—and it’s all thanks to having the right support and supplies.”

Specialized Services

Certified Shine Detailing offers a wide range of services, with a strong focus on protection and performance:

  • Protective coatings (core specialty)

  • Marine detailing

  • Automotive detailing

  • RV and aviation detailing

  • Bottom paint

  • Teak restoration

This versatility allows Zack to apply proven systems across industries while maintaining consistent results.

Challenges in the Industry

Like many professionals, Zack sees one of the biggest challenges as maintaining standards in a growing industry.

“Everyone thinks they have what it takes to be a successful detailer, but not everyone is trained properly. You have people coming in charging a fraction of the price, and then we end up fixing improper buffing or coatings.”

This not only impacts customers—but the industry as a whole.

“It ends up costing owners more money and can hurt the reputation of professional detailing.”

Products & Workflow That Drive Results

Consistency and efficiency come down to using the right system.

“Starke products are what we rely on daily to get the job done efficiently and to a high standard—mildew clean, simple clean, wool pads, compounds, and coatings.”

Having dependable products allows Zack and his team to maintain quality while scaling their workload.

The Impact of MDSC

Reliable supply and support have played a major role in Certified Shine’s growth.

“It’s helped us tremendously. We can rely on the Cape Coral store to have what we need and answer any questions when we run into something new.”

Beyond products, it’s the relationship that stands out:

“They keep us stocked, help us stay efficient, and the rewards system is a great bonus. They treat everyone like we’re all part of one big team.”

Advice for Growing Detailers

Zack emphasizes something many overlook—relationships matter just as much as skill.

“Don’t be afraid to network. Don’t see others as competitors—see them as friends. We’re all working toward the same goal, and networking will take your business further than you can imagine.”

Industry Trends

The shift toward protection and maintenance is clear.

“I’m seeing a big increase in protective coatings, a lot of interest in PPF, and more demand for maintenance kits so customers can take care of their boats between services.”

What Quality Means

At the end of the day, results speak louder than anything.

“Quality always comes first. We want our customers’ jaws to hit the floor when they see the finished product. That reaction makes all the hard work worth it.”
